Carboxygel effectively couples peptides and small ligands. It is primarily recommended for the linkage of small ligands where long hydrophilic spacer arms are needed to allow access of the protein to the coupled ligand. Carboxygel possesses a high substitution and coupling efficiency. Due to the potential for intermolecular polymerization in a side reaction, coupling of large proteins is better accomplished with Actigel ALD than with Aminogel or Carboxygel. The medium is capable of coupling in both aqueous solution and organic solvent.
